Hyundai i30 Fastback 2018

The latest addition to Hyundai's i30 range is the all-new Hyundai i30 Fastback, now available across Europe and other markets. With a sophisticated twist, the new body design reflects Hyundai's design language. This classic and elegant Hyundai coupe brings a unique and new approach to the popular C-segment, underlining the brand's focus on innovation, design and customer choice.

Bold and sophisticated

The All-New Hyundai i30 Fastback was designed with the intuition and creativity of the Hyundai Motor design team creating a truly desirable car. The Hyundai i30 Fastback has defining design features: a strong stance with sporty, elongated lines. The sophisticated shape features dynamic sports coupe proportions created by an elegant tilted roofline and a long bonnet.

This special silhouette is achieved with a lowered roof and a tight cabin sitting on a bold body. On the front, the bonnet is emphasised and appears wider thanks to the reduced height of the Cascading Grille. The slim cabin is emphasised by wide wheel arches giving the car a strong stance. The wheel design was specially developed to perfectly match the i30 Fastback's silhouette. Tapering towards the rear, the cabin has a sleek shape, inspired by the shape of a teardrop. Dividing and sculpting the surfaces creates a vivid play of light and shadow, adding drama to the car. The C-pillar and the rear windscreen are inspired by the premium segment and designed with refined shapes, reinforcing the car's tapered belt line and its sense of dynamic, strong forward motion.

The Hyundai i30 Fastback comes in a choice of 11 exterior colours; three pearl, 6 metallic and two solid colours. For the interior, a choice of three colour options is available, including Hyundai's new and unique Merlot Red interior.

Behind the wheel

The driving dynamics of the Hyundai i30 line-up are rigorously tested and refined by engineers at Hyundai Motor's European Testing Centre at the famous Nürburgring "Nordschleife" circuit. The Hyundai i30 Fastback showcases some significant differences compared with the other vehicles in the Hyundai i30 range. By comparison to the i30 five-door version, the chassis of the Hyundai i30 Fastback has been lowered by 5mm and the stiffness of the suspension has been increased by 15%. This provides a more dynamic and more agile driving experience while maintaining a high level of comfort.

The Hyundai i30 Fastack powertrain line-up consists of two downsized turbocharged petrol engines; the 1.4 T-GDI turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 140 PS or the 1.0 T-GDI turbocharged three-cylinder engine with 120 PS. The 1.4-litre T-GDI petrol engine is offered with the six-speed manual transmission or the seven-speed dual clutch transmission, which gives a choice of fully automatic operation or manual gear changes. The 1.0 T-GDI is offered with the six-speed manual transmission. All engines come standard with the Idle Stop and Go (ISG) system for increased efficiency.

The new body type of the i30 Fastback provides a dynamic and compliant driving experience with high levels of ride comfort. Contributing to this is the standard multi-link rear suspension for all versions with a dual lower arm and the performance-oriented shock absorbers.

Best in class safety

The all-new Hyundai i30 Fastack features the latest Hyundai SmartSense active safety and driving assistance technology. Fulfilling the highest European safety standards, the Hyundai i30 Fastback received the maximum five-star rating from Euro NCAP. With Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Driver Attention Warning, High Beam Assist and Lane Keeping Assist always on board, the i30 Fastback offers best-in-class standard active safety.

In addition to technology driven safety features, the Hyundai i30 Fastack has a high percentage of Advanced High Strength Steel and thus benefits from high rigidity and a high impact energy absorption with minimised distortion to protect passengers in the event of a collision. Around the interior of the Hyundai i30 Fastback, a total of seven airbags are installed, including a knee airbag for the driver. Beside the six standard airbags (two front airbags, two side airbags and two curtain airbags from first to second row protecting both driver and passengers), the knee airbag is an additional safety feature for the driver in the event of a front collision.

The all-new Hyundai i30 Fastack is on track to set new standards in this very competitive and rather saturated segment of the motor industry. Hyundai has done a great job of adding yet another well conceived and executed vehicle into their extensive range of already impressive vehicles.
